SAKSHAM

To ensure sustainability to the lives of Persons with Disability through ensuring their mobility, Spark Minda, Ashok Minda Group has developed a Program called “Saksham”.

It is supplementing to Accessible India Campaign (Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan), Ministry of Persons with Disabilities.

Under Saksham we:

  • Provide Accessible and Assistive Technology to PWDs.
  • Map and categorize of requirement of Manpower in different functions in the factory.
  • Identification, Recruitment and Induction of suitable PWDs for respective functions.
  • Design Ergonomics and Architectural Installation/facilitation.
  • Evacuation Plan, Human Rights Compliance, support and sustenance.

This framework is basically designed for differently abled people to create an inclusive workplace, where their skill and talent are valued and respected.

Countrywide in different manufacturing locations 149 Person with disability are employed by the Group. The Group engages PWD’s with an affirmation of its commitment to sustainable business practice.

The various functions where PWD’s are employed are Assembly, Production, Paintshop, Administration, Wire joint taping, Store Department, Inspection etc. Frequent job rotation is also carried out to provide ease to them while working.

ARTIFICIAL LIMB FITMENT CAMP, INDIA, 2017

Spark Minda Foundation, as part of their continuous efforts aimed towards social upliftment, organized a 12day Artificial Limb Fitment camp at MCL Noida. This program supplements the Accessible India Campaign of Government of India.

The camp was being organized in association with Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklaang Sahatya Samiti (Jaipur Foot) started from 13th to 24th December, 2017. The camp aimed to treat more than 1000 Persons with Disability in 12 days. Observing the response of the community the number for fitment was increased to 2042. The camp has provided end-to-end support in Limb fitment, Caliper fitment, providing Walkers, Elbow Crutches, wheelchair, Tricycle etc. all in same day and as per requirement.

The activity is part of ‘Saksham’ – a CSR program started by Spark Minda, Ashok Minda Group to help Persons within Disabilities (PWDs). Under Saksham, the Group aims to provide accessible and assistive technologies, impart skill training through OJT (On the job training), create inclusive workplace and ergonomics, train them for 5s and life skills, employ PWD’s (Persons with Disability).

The Group has already successfully organized an Artificial Limb fitment camp at Indonesia, which benefitted 529 people in May, 2015; Artificial Limb Fitment Camp at Noida, which benefitted people with1054 fitments in September 2016. Till date 3727 PWDs are benefitted with assistive technology by organizing Artificial Limb Fitment Camp.

For this camp, Spark Minda Foundation partnered with more than 30 Organization such as Ambuja Cement Foundation, Assocham, Sister of Destitute, Wockhardt Foundation, Sehgal Foundation, Enactus- Group of Delhi University Students, etc. for seeking mobilization support.

The Highlight of the program was partnership with Government and District Administration of Gautam Buddha Nagar, Hapur, Ghaziabad and Bulandshahar to ensure the outreach to rural blocks. 7 PWDs were also sent for fitment by Indian Army from Uri, J & K.

PWDs from Ghaziabad, Bisraksh, Dadri, Dhankor, Jewar, Mewat, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Bulandsahar, Agra, Meerut, Mathura, etc. were benefitted during the Camp. This camp was organized in a closed coordination with the District Administration of Gautam Buddha Nagar to ensure the outreach to rural blocks. This Program is unique example of Public Private Partnership.

DIVYANG SHASHAKTIKARAN KENDRA IN MAHARASHTRA

The main objective of this centre is:

  • To provide Accessible and Assistive Technology to Person with Disabilities (PWDs)
  • Skilling facilitation for PWDs
  • On Job Trainings in different Manufacturing Functions
  • Employment linkage in the Industry
  • Providing assistance in getting Disability Certificate

The Inauguration of the center was held on 29th March 2018 by Ms. Sarika Minda, Chairperson, Spark Minda Foundation.

The center aims at providing prosthetic and orthotic devices to 250 Divyangs annually. It will also be facilitating in employment of 150 Divyangs by imparting them skills with either on-job trainings or vocational trainings. The center will also help in getting disability certificates to 250 Divyangs annually. This center also aims to organize job fairs in collaboration with its partners and other like-minded Organizations.

The Saksham Center has received tremendous support from Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and welfare department of PMC and PCMC. This Center will cater particularly to the rural districts of Maharashtra, where all such facilities will be provided free of cost. Spark Minda Foundation is further exploring possibilities of collaboration in different districts of the state.

Mr. Ashok Minda, Group CEO has envisioned to benefit 7000 PWDs with fitments and 1000 PWDs with employment by FY 2020 and this center will facilitate in achieving PWDs life’s sustainability with dignity.
